Key requirements

Thanks to our relationship with the European General Counsel, we were the first call for this mandate, allowing the process to move quickly and with clear direction. The brief was to identify a 6–10 PQE lawyer based in Madrid with experience across NPLs, private credit, and leveraged finance. The focus was on lawyers with strong technical grounding who could operate confidently across complex financing and distressed situations.

Constraints or sensitivities

The talent pool was narrow, with relatively few lawyers at the required 6–10 PQE level who combined experience in NPLs, private credit, and leveraged finance. This required careful mapping of the market to identify individuals with the right technical background and the capacity to operate across these areas.

Market mapping and intelligence

We know the client well, which allowed the process to move quickly and with clear direction. This was particularly important given the time-sensitive nature of the mandate, enabling us to run an efficient and focused search.

Candidate evaluation process

From our experience hiring both transaction and desk lawyers, we had a clear view of the skills and characteristics the role required. This allowed us to assess candidates quickly and make informed judgements throughout the process.
