Senior Valuations Manager
Client / Mandate complexity
This role was created to support the firm’s European private equity strategy. Working closely with the Head of Fund Operations, the individual would take full ownership of the valuation process across the portfolio, covering roughly 40 companies at any given time. The work had previously been handled by an external provider. The firm wanted to bring this capability in-house, ensuring valuations were not only accurate but also contributed meaningful insight to the investment team.
Constraints or sensitivities
The challenge was identifying someone with the technical depth to lead valuations while also having the credibility to work with senior stakeholders across the firm. The role required close interaction with finance, compliance, legal and deal teams, so strong judgement and communication skills were essential. The individual needed enough experience and gravitas to be trusted by senior management, while remaining focused on execution rather than strategy. Ultimately, the aim was to place someone who could take ownership of the function and remove operational weight from the wider business.
